Who We Are

Bethesda Hall (Ang Mo Kio) is a community of believers dedicated to the worship of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our purpose is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the expansion of His kingdom by promoting Christian education and the welfare of others on Christian principles.

1860s
Bethesda is Founded

Early Christians meet in the home of English businessman Philip Robinson

1864
Mission Room

The Mission Room is set up at Bencoolen Street. The Gospel is preached to both the British and the locals.

1866
Beginning at Bras Basah

Bethesda chapel opens with its first dawn service at 77 Bras Basah Road. The  plaque bearing the words “JESUS ONLY” was soon added to the hall and a replacement is in use to this day in Bethesda Hall (Ang Mo Kio).

1867
New Additions

Some of the first Asians are saved and baptised into the assembly – One Malay,  nine Chinese and one Indian.

1900s
Gospel Work Expansion

Post Centennial Blessings (1964-1985)

The Gospel work expands outwards from Bras Basah Road as Gospel services were often held in English, Malay and Chinese.

1986
Bethesda Hall in Ang Mo Kio

He is Faithful (1864-2009)

Bethesda Hall (Ang Mo Kio) is erected to accommodate the growing size of the assembly.

Today
Lord's Faithfulness

Today, some 500 believers meet weekly to take the Lord’s supper, as well as for the ministry and prayer meetings.
