Easter Devotionals: A Love That Transforms

2 Apr. 2025

AC, a youth in our assembly, shares how recognising the significance of Easter has transformed his life inside out, reaffirming his reason to serve and love.

This realisation fills me with a sense of purpose and love, knowing that Christ’s sacrifice was the ultimate expression of love.”

Growing up, my Easter experience revolved around attending Easter programmes in church with my parents and hearing about the Lord Jesus’ resurrection. However, I hardly paid attention to the messages preached and often occupied myself with books instead. Easter was simply another church tradition to me.

Over time, as I got to understand more of God’s Word, I began to listen more intently and started to appreciate the significance of Easter, seeing it as more than an event.

What stood out to me in the recent messages of the Easter programmes such as the Easter Conference, Youth programs and Sunday School was the message of love — specifically, the love of God. Like many of the youth who grew up in church, I sometimes feel lost and empty, especially when indulging in entertainment like social media. But the Easter story reminds me that Jesus took the punishment for our sins and rose from the dead, securing our salvation. (Rom. 4:25)

This realisation fills me with a sense of purpose and love, knowing that Christ’s sacrifice was the ultimate expression of love. Because of this, I now have a newfound purpose in life: To live for Him and love others as He loves us. The love of God motivates me to serve and encourage fellow believers in their faith, as well as to share the gospel with unbelievers. Hence, Easter reaffirms my reason to serve and love, making it more than just an annual event — it is a powerful reminder of God’s love and our purpose in Him.

1 John 4:9-11

In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
